Before I was a designer, I was an artist. I’ve been drawing, painting, and creating since I can remember. In high school, I discovered I could monetize my talent, and set out to fund my college education through selling my art. I’d sell art at the OKC Festival of the Arts through the Youth Art Sale Program, and fulfilled commission work of all kinds. In college, I designed decks of cards to sell to fund my study abroad at Oxford in England to study Art Theory & Criticism. I began working professionally as a designer in 2020 with my internship at the Gibbs College of Architecture at the University of Oklahoma, overseeing design for the social media pages, promotional materials, and the like. Post-college, I’ve been working as a UI/UX & Graphic Designer since graduation. However, I’ve felt something missing, and that was art.
In 2023, a local noodle shop by the name of Big Biang Theory was opening their first brick and mortar, and they released a call for artists to produce murals to make their space unique. My designs were chosen, and I was commissioned to create two large murals. In 2024, a disco lounge by the name Lamp Post Lounge was relocating to a new space in historic Bricktown. Over the course of a year, I completed nine large murals within the space.
Reconnecting with art and painting has re-awakened my love for what I do. Creativity must be fed, and creating murals in my free time has been so freeing and rewarding.
